Info Tech, Inc. Named Alachua County Business of the Year by the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce

Gainesville, Fla. – October 14, 2009: Info Tech, Inc. was awarded the coveted Business of the Year award by the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce at a luncheon ceremony today. Info Tech also received the award for Innovation.

More than two dozen local companies vied for the honor which recognizes excellence in the Alachua County business community. In his acceptance speech, Info Tech’s Senior Vice President Dr. Tom Rothrock noted that the honor belongs to Info Tech’s dedicated employees.

“Generally we get so caught up in the day-to-day activities of our job that we don't think about the larger purpose our business serves in providing jobs and support for families and businesses in the communities that we live in,” he said. “Recognition like this illustrates the value of being good corporate citizens beyond the boundaries of just our employees and customers, and playing a role in shaping the community as a whole.”

Info Tech received the Innovation award for the specialized products and services the company is offering in relation to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). This year, the company launched new services and updated products to assist public agencies in tracking and reporting their ARRA-funded projects.

In the presentation for the overall large company win, several things about Info Tech’s employees were noted, including their willingness to forgo holiday parties in 2008 to make donations to area community agencies. Also mentioned were employee-centric policies like info Tech’s relaxed dress code and flex time. Info Tech’s success over the past 30 years and the economic impact that the company has made were key to the win.
