Award-Winning FieldManager Software Recognized in Michigan Governor’s Report to Citizens

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – October 3, 2002: FieldManager, a comprehensive electronic highway construction management system, recently received special credit in Michigan Governor John Engler’s report to Citizens titled “Build Michigan: Fixing Roads, Investing in the Future.” In the report dated July 2002, Engler highlights the accomplishments of the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) that have been achieved through a combination of increased transportation funding and improved management.

FieldManager receives special credit as a major contributor to improved construction management in Michigan by enabling standardized and efficient tracking and reporting of construction progress information. The report states, “…since FieldManager was fully implemented statewide in 1999, some $4 billion in construction contracts have been awarded and FieldManager has successfully managed all of them.” The report further states “The software has streamlined MDOT operations to save Michigan taxpayers more than $16.8 million per year in reduced hands-on time. Motorists have benefited because projects are completed faster, and motorists experience fewer travel delays at construction sites.” Michigan’s construction budget for 2003 will increase to over $3 billion, the sixth largest budget in the country. FieldManager will be used to manage this entire amount of contracts.

FieldManager is a software application suite that was co-developed by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and Info Tech, Inc. of Gainesville, Florida. It is used for managing and tracking construction projects, documenting construction progress, initiating contractor payments and communicating with an agency's central office contract administration system. It is an easy-to-use PC-based system designed for use by state transportation agencies, local government agencies, engineering consultants and large contractors.

Several other state transportation agencies now license FieldManager. It is currently in production usage in Arkansas, Iowa, Michigan, Oklahoma, Maine and Wisconsin, and being piloted in Wyoming. Additionally, approximately 200 cities and counties, as well as over 100 consulting firms, license the software.

Info Tech, Inc., headquartered in Gainesville, Florida, is a nationally recognized company providing customer-oriented, highly technical consulting, software development, implementation, systems integration, network communications services and user training for state and local government highway transportation agencies and their consultant communities.
